Today is the day! I’m taking the stage at TEDxCharlottesville to talk about my journey to minimalism and more specifically, my journey to Afrominimalism. I’ll be honest—it’s a bit surreal. And beyond exciting!
The title of my TEDxTalk is “You Can Be a Minimalist. Yes, You!” And I really believe that. When people focus less on the aesthetics of mainstream minimalism and more on the practice of intentional living, they’ll surprise themselves. Hopefully, my TEDxTalk will encourage more people to join the movement.
Also, I’m in love with Charlottesville! I’ve been here since Wednesday and I’ve done nothing but eat all the food this little town has to offer. So many great restaurants! Even though I’ve seen some beautiful pieces while window shopping, I haven’t gone inside a single store. (
It’s so funny to see how much I’ve changed since 2016. The ‘pre-minimalist me’ would have been tearing though Charlottesville hunting down deals and bargain shopping. ‘Afrominimalist me’ lives by the mantra I’ll be sharing at TEDxCharlottesville—“It’s not a deal if you don’t need it.”
