It all started with Project 333. Well, that’s not entirely true. Initially, it began with a very impressive wardrobe. The problem? I wore very little of my clothing, shoes and accessories. So, when I learned about the capsule wardrobe I was pretty confident that having thirty three items in rotation would work well for me.
Jumpsuits. Dresses. A denim jacket. Spring, summer and fall capsule wardrobe life was everything I dreamed it would be–easy breezy. Then, winter arrived.
Enter the Everyday Uniform
I hated my winter capsule. This is mostly because I hate all things winter. Me and the cold just don’t get along. Time and time again, I found myself gravitating toward the same silhouette just so I could get out of the door–skinny jeans/black pants, solid or denim button-down shirt, and a blazer, if I had a meeting. I decided to create a uniform, just to get me through winter, and it’s been life-changing.
Mornings are simple. Laundry is simple. Looking a feeling my best because I know what I’m wearing each day makes that part of life simple. (One less decision to make–hooray!)Christine
Tips on Creating Your Uniform
- Don’t buy anything new! Chances are high that your uniform is already in your closet.
- Identify the pieces and/or the outfit that you turn to time and time again when you’re running late.
- Identify your power outfit/ your “I need to look and feel my best outfit.”
And therein lies your uniform! Consider giving uniform life a try for a week or two. And let me know what you think!
