In my old home office, I had a huge desk, bookcases, a large comfy chair (with an ottoman!), and an old typewriter that served as inspiration along with other knickknacks. It was where I wrote my first novel, The Truth About Awiti. Some nights, I slept on the floor because I was too exhausted to walk upstairs. Yes, I had that much space. And I knew finding a dedicated writing space would be my biggest challenge when moving into 635 square feet.
Having a favorite coffee shop or library nearby is always ideal, but it’s important to have a dedicated work space at home, no matter how small. Maybe it’s your breakfast bar or kitchen island, or a dining room table that doubles as a desk. Because if you’re unable to get out of the house, you need some place to continue working on your dreams.
